Contracting After Disasters – Hurricanes, Wildfires, and More
Whether it be from natural disasters or coordinated attacks, every state is faced with a crisis at some point or another. Following every disaster, APEX Accelerators are inundated with phone calls of “How can I get FEMA contracts?” and every year, my answer is always the same: “Once disaster strikes, it’s already too late”. Contrary to popular belief, contracting during times of disaster doesn’t start with FEMA.
In emergencies, contracting rules change and misinformation is prevalent. Learn how contracting during disasters really works, so that you can prepare BEFORE disaster strikes. Topics include:
- How disasters get declared and who is in charge
- Contracting with your State and local governments during disasters
- Changes and flexibilities in acquisition rules, dollar thresholds, and FAR Parts 18 and 26
- Doing business with FEMA
- The role of the US Army Corps of Engineers
- Required registrations
- Locating solicitations, needs, pre-awarded contracts, and forecasts
